A number of class action settlements affect the construction industry. Check out some of these links:
(1) Kinsella is a consultant in the design, preparation, and dissemination of legal notices in class action and mass tort bankruptcies. The company maintains links to sites concerning settlement of Masonite Hardboard siding, polybutylene ("PB") piping, North Carolina synthetic stucco class action, Louisana-Pacific Oriented Strand Board ("OSB") Sheathing settlement, the national synthetic stucco ("EIFS") and Senergy/Thoro settlement, the OmniWood Siding and Woodruf Roofing, and the Central Sprinkler Omega Sprinkler product recall and settlement. Go to their site for links to Web pages dealing with these settlements.
(2) Polybutylene pipe has been subject to at least two class action settlements, the Cox settlement and the Spencer settlement.
(3) There have been a number of cases filed in connection with disputes involving lead-based paint. The industry position is set out on the website of the National Paint and Coatings Association. The EPA operates the National Lead Information Center.
(4) There is litigation pending in connection with disputes involving Fire Retardant Treated ("FRT") plywood.
Check back regularly. I will be posting additional links to sites with more information on these issues.
